VISIT TO TARNOBRZEG

The visit to the Polish city of Tarnobrzeg was a complete success. Teachers and students met to enjoy all the lovely activities that the Polish team had organized for us. We also evaluated the work done within the two year project. Thanks to the Polish friends for hosting us and giving us such unforgettable experiences.

SPRINGTIME

The german word for this bird is “ Kuckuck “.In former times girls asked, when they heard the first Kuckuck: Cuckoo how long will I be alive? And how many times the cuckoo made his famous sound – that many years you could expect. Or girls asked : Cuckoo, how long will it take till I’m going to be married? And the same: you counted how often the cuckoo called his own name.  Nowadays nobody wants to be married that´s why that tradition got lost.
The Basque word for that bird is "Kukua"The belief is that if you have money in your pocket when you hear it for the first time that year, you will have money through the whole year.

There are some beliefs concerning cuckoos also in Latvia: we have to be very careful in spring not to leave home without some breakfast and at least some coins in the pocket. If you hear the first cuckoo having no food in your stomacks and no money in your pockets, you won't have food and money enough the whole year. And our cuckoos count also our years left

VISIT TO GERNIKA

VISIT TO GERNIKA
Here we are in the old Assembly House of Gernika where the famous tree is placed. The tree of Gernika is an oak tree that symbolizes traditional freedoms for the Basque people. The lords of Biscay swore to respect the Biscayan liberties under it, and the modern president of the Basque Country swears his charge there. During our visit, each country was given some oak corns from the tree to plant in their schools.

VISIT TO THE BASQUE COUNTRY

The first meeting in Zeberio was a great experience for all of us. It gave us the chance to meet our partners, talk about the project and plan further activities and deadlines. Students and teachers from different European countries shared a lot of especial moments.
